Emirates Airlines to Expand Mainland Operations In China

Dubai’s flagship airline carrier, Emirates, has announced its plans to ramp up China operations, owing to the strong travel demands in the region and also in preparation for the Lunar New Year, one of the biggest events in the Chinese calendar.

As part of the move, Emirates will boost the connectivity to its gateways located in the Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou provinces of China, as the country begins to ease entry restrictions that were initially in place as part of its fight against the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Scheduled Emirates Dubai – Shanghai Service from January 20, 2023

Emirates passenger service to Shanghai will resume with the addition of weekly-twice flights from January 20, 2023, onwards. The number of daily services will be gradually increased starting March 1, 2023.

The two weekly flights to Shanghai that are planned as of now will be operated using the Airbus A380 aircraft. The non-stop flight service from Dubai to Shanghai, with the flight code “EK302”, will commence operations on January 20, 2023. On the return journey, the flight code will be labeled as “EK303” and will have a short stop in Bangkok before reaching Dubai.

The Emirates “EK302” from Dubai will depart at 03:45 AM and arrive at Shanghai at 15:40 (03:40 PM) the same day. The return flight “E303” has a scheduled departure time from Shanghai at 17:40 (05:40 PM) and will make its brief stop at Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok at 21:45 (09:45 PM). The flight is planned to take off from Bangkok at 23:20 (11:20 PM) and will arrive in Dubai at 03:20 AM the next day.

Furthermore, an additional daily non-stop service will be added to the Dubai to Shanghai route starting March 1, 2023. The service will have the flight code “EK304” and as per schedule will take off from Dubai at 09:15 AM and reach Shanghai at 21:05 (09:05 PM). The return “EK303” flight of this service will leave Shanghai at 23:00 (11:00 PM) and reach Dubai the next day at 05:20 AM.

Scheduled Emirates Dubai – Guangzhou Service Starting from February 1, 2023

There is currently a non-stop flight that operates between Dubai and Guangzhou, with the flight code “EK362”. The return flight with the flight code “EK363” starts from Guangzhou, and has a brief stop in Bangkok, before reaching Dubai as its final destination. The flights between Dubai and Guangzhou, as of the current schedule, operate four times a week.

Beginning February 1, 2023, Emirates plans to increase the flights between Dubai and Guangzhou. The airline will operate Airbus A380 services between the two major cities under the flight codes “EK362” and “EK363”. The scheduled departure of “EK362” from Dubai will be at 10:45 AM and the flight will arrive at Guangzhou at 21:45 (09:45 PM) the same day. The return flight will depart from Guangzhou at 00:15 (12:15 AM) and will reach Dubai at 05:15 AM the same day.

Scheduled Emirates Dubai – Beijing Service Resuming from March 15, 2023

The flight between Dubai and Beijing will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER under the flight code “EK308” and “EK307”. The commencement of operations by Emirates with the Boeing 777-300ERs will mark the resumption of services between the UAE and the Chinese capital city. Starting March 15, 2023, the “EK308” service will begin its journey from Dubai at 10:50 AM and arrive in Beijing at 22:20 (10:20 PM) the same day. The return “EK307” will start from Beijing at 00:40 (12:40 AM) and will reach Dubai at 05:00 AM the same day.

With the ramp-up plan in action, Emirates will have 21 weekly flights in place between Dubai and important Chinese cities. This will help in offering better flexibility and choices for both leisure and business passengers and will also significantly contribute to the path of tourism recovery in China.

Emirates has been offering flight services to China for almost two decades now, with the airline establishing its presence in the Chinese airline market in the form of a strategic partnership and now continues to showcase its commitment to the Chinese community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
