UAE Climate Tech A first-of-its-kind Forum To Attain Net Zero

The first-of-its-kind forum, the UAE climate tech has been announced by the Ministry of Industry and advanced technology (MoIAT), in partnership with ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar). The forum is to acknowledge the urgent need to decarbonize as required and take necessary action for climate change while permitting also socio-economic growth. 

The forum will be held on May 10th and 11th, 2023 at the Abu Dhabi energy center. It will scrutinize the universal drive to attain net zero by 2050 and explore significant possibilities in the field of innovations and the economy. 

More than 1000 industry leaders are attending the massive event to support the climate action

The major goal of the forum is to increase the efforts to reduce emissions by at least 43% by 2030 in connection with the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) report.  Abu Dhabi is all set to display its technologies including robotics, carbon capture, AI, hydrogen, digitalization, renewables, and low-carbon solutions for oil and gas, etc.

More than 1000 industry leaders are attending the massive event to support the climate action

As the country is observing the UAE sustainability year, more than 1000 industry experts, policymakers, technology leaders, and investors will attend the event to encourage, promote, and gradually support the venture of decarbonization effectively among all the concerned sectors. Over 100 companies will be making their first-ever entry into the UAE. 

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and COP28 President-Designate has said that the science behind climate change as stated in the latest IPCC report is crystal clear and that the world is in a constant race to limit the temperatures from rising above the pre-industrial levels.

His Excellency also states that we have a golden chance to make the correction and change its course so we all must act now on the four key pillars of climate finance, human capital, policy, and technology. 

He then added that humanity is now facing the most difficult challenges of all time that is, meeting the fast-paced world’s energy requirements while reducing emissions on the other side. 

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber wants us to act with urgency to develop the nation by embracing decarbonization methods, and low-carbon solutions with a focus on economic growth as well. The UAE climate tech offers this enormous opportunity to connect industry leaders and policymakers for the climate action which will transform, decarbonize, and future-proof for a net zero world. 

The UAE has been investing in climate action and its solutions which compel to staple the ADNOC’s allocation of $15 billion to low-carbon solutions, decarbonization, and new energies.

These projects include contributing to carbon capture and storage(CSS), clean power, further electrification of its operation, etc.ADNOC will cover each project and it will make sure that it provides a lasting impact. while Masdar is targeting 100 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. 

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC managing director and group CEO has talked about the significant steps they have taken to make today’s energy cleaner while taking the measures to make tomorrow’s energy cleaner with new technologies.

He states that the world needs an energy transition that is both pro-growth and pro-climate for which ADNOC has been the constant support for these goals.

He also added that ADNOC will fast-track the necessary operations to landmark clean energy, low carbon, and decarbonization technology projects. He is inviting technology leaders and industry leaders to collaborate with them to drive significant actions required for climate action and energy transition. 

The Ministry of Industry and advanced technology (MoIAT) has framed plans in the country to encourage strategies in the production methods of companies that support decarbonization and motivate new companies that prioritize decarbonization.

The MoIAT’s actions and collaborations in this field include the Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI), the Technology Transformation Program, green financing in partnership with Emirates Development Bank, the Industrial Sustainability Alliance, and increasing awareness of green regulations and standards.

Furthermore, The event will focus on the UAE’s effort on launching the UAE climate tech to facilitate decarbonization and design the green industries of the future including climate-critical sectors like renewables, STEM education, climate-smart agriculture, and hydrogen.
