Emirates’ new First Class offering receives royal seal of approval
It looks like we’re not the only ones digging the First Class suites onboard Emirates’ new Boeing 777 aircraft.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was amongst the first to receive a tour of the posh plane during this week's Dubai Airshow and judging by his reaction, it’s safe to say that he likes it.
If this the first that your hearing (reading) of Emirates' new First Class suites, here’s what you need to know…
- The suites are 84 inches long.
- They feature sliding doors that reach up to 6 feet and 9 inches.
- They have floor to ceiling windows.
- They feature a 32-inch high-definition screen.
- The cabins are also equipped with “virtual windows” that can project the view from outside in real-time.
As the First Class offering’s interiors have been inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, it is only fitting that the airline selected motor guru, Jeremy Clarkson, as the face of its new TV campaign.
The one minute long video sees Clarkson narrate the plane’s many features in a manner that is similar to his infamous Top Gear days – highly informative and filled with humour.
Speaking on the airline’s partnership with the former Top Gear presenter, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president for corporate communications, marketing and brand, Boutros Boutros said: “Jeremy Clarkson is one of the most recognisable faces in the motoring world.
“In addition to his credentials as a motoring journalist and presenter, Clarkson is also passionate about engineering, especially pioneering and innovative work.”
He added: “We felt that he would be a wonderful fit for our campaign, especially as our new fully enclosed First Class private suites were inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and the product itself is an innovative game-changer that once again raises the bar for inflight customer experience.”
