The UAE has been actively involved in helping the Ukrainian people to regain their lives from the ongoing war. Since the beginning of the war, the United Arab Emirates has sent several humanitarian and financial aid to Ukraine.
Recently, the UAE donated 2,500 generators for household use to Ukraine, as the war had damaged critical infrastructure in the country including power plants, thus leaving homes without any form of electricity. Each of the generators donated by the UAE is capable of producing power output between 3.5 kilowatts and 8 kilowatts.
Also, late last year, the UAE President announced provisioning $100 million as humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. Additionally, planes carrying aid were also sent to Poland and Moldova, which are neighboring countries of Ukraine that have seen a large number of Ukrainian refugees come in as a result of the war.
Even with the world trying to de-escalate the war situation and bring peace into the region, the Russian attack on Ukraine has been ongoing, with the latest reports being of attacks on Thursday early morning hitting the Black Sea port city of Odesa, Kyiv, and Kharkiv.
The missile strikes that hit these areas have also reportedly disconnected the power supply to several areas. According to Vitalii Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, the latest strikes in the city have severely impacted a nearby power facility, thus leaving over 40 percent of the city’s residents without any form of heating, while the outside temperature hovers around the 4-degree Celsius mark.
The meeting held at the Qasr Al Bahr palace was also attended by Marian bint Mohammed Almheiri, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment; as well as Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
