6 of the most random items that you might not know are banned on board
Dubai International Airport is preparing for what it set to be its busiest weekend of the year – roughly 220,000 passengers are expected to fly out of Dubai in the coming days.
In attempt to help you have a seamless flight experience, we’ve shortlisted six items that are not allowed to be carried on as hand luggage.
1. Soup
It’s true not everyone likes plane food but package soup is not allowed. If you insist on bringing your onion soup on the plane, you have to store it in a 100ml bottle that needs to be packed in a clear, plastic bag. The same applies to chutney and jam.
2. Fishing rods
Yep, fishing rods, gold clubs and pool clues are not allowed on planes. Sewing needles, tweezers and rounded scissors are allowed, mind.
3. Tent pegs
This made us chuckle but yes, tent pegs aren’t allowed on board. You can, however, carry tent poles.
4. Ten bottles of Chanel perfume
Quite specific. But apparently it has nothing to do with the brand, but more to do with the volume of liquid that can fit into a clear 20cm X 20 cm transparent plastic bag. We tried and managed to comfortably fit in five. On the topic of liquids, you are only allowed 100ml per bottle.
5. Smart luggage
Before showing off your neat bag that’s fitted with GPS technology and the ability to charge your phone, it is worth checking if you can actually use it. Most flights to the US have banned the use of lithium powered bags after they were linked to a number of fires.
6. Snow globes
*sighs*
