Tuesdays poolside at Andreea’s
We have to get one of our own parties in, right? We are co-hosting Tuesdays at this stunning location in the Marina, its free entry for everyone (yes, guys too) and there is no minimum spend. Expect chilled vibes and we especially like the pool bar.

Ballet under the Stars
One of the world’s most iconic ballerinas, Lucia Lacarra is the star attraction as Ballet under the Stars comes to the Desert Palm Per Aquum resort early next week.  It is being held in association with The Covent Garden Dance Company and also features principles and soloists from The Royal Danish Ballet, The English National Ballet, Strasbourg Ballet and Ballet Bejart. Lucia Lacarra will be joined onstage by her husband and dance partner, Marlon Dino. Tickets start from AED750, and include a sparkling reception and a three-course dinner.

M1 Shred 2
Skate fans, counter-culturalists and people who simply like wearing unnecessarily oversized clothing will be heading to Media One Hotel for the skateboarding and longboarding downhill carpark race. Riders will be competing for vouchers from Baker, NEFF, Land Yachtz and RAGE as they race down three storeys. There’s also a mini ramp and some international skate stars.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Back to Tuesdays for this one.  Lucky Voice is proving to be a bit of a hit in this office (New Year’s Eve, we won’t forget you) and so this 8pm-12am offering will go down well. Like Bice, it’s unlimited beverages and 50 percent off the dining menu. Best bit? Groups can also enjoy complimentary private karaoke pod taster sessions.
When: Lucky Voice, Grand Millennium, Barsha Heights

Social Thursdays
A cool laid back vibe with bespoke cocktails and house music, one of the Marina’s hidden gems. The food here by Jason Atherton is incredible.

Street Feast night brunch
The Black Lion is transforming itself into a street food spot every Thursday night. The Street Feast Night Brunch offers unlimited street food eats and house beverages for any three hour slot between 8pm-12am. It claims to takes its cues from London’s markets and offers bites from Indian, Chinese, Thai and Korean cuisines, including chicken tikka tenders, spinach dim sum with wasabi vegetables and short rib Korean buns with kimchi slaw and sticky sweet chilli. DJ Somalie will be on hand to entertain. AED285.

Cinema – xXx: The Return of Xander Cage (18)
It’s easy to be dismissive of dear old Vin Diesel. The shaven-headed, bicep-bulging action hero with an approach to enunciation that might make Benicio Del Toro consider vocal exercises isn’t going to be standing in front of a microphone with a piece of brass excoriating the next President any time soon. What he will do, though, is enjoy his massive house and great life and smile the corniest of smiles. He returns to the XXX franchise because, well, loads of people love it. Fair play.
In cinemas January 19
