17th Forum Of UAE Ambassadors And Representatives Of Missions Abroad Concludes

The 17th Forum of UAE Ambassadors and Representatives of Missions organized under the theme “The United Arab Emirates, a Bright Present and a Promising Future” came to an end yesterday on the 9th of February 2023. The forum lasted for four days long starting on the 6th of February and was attended by the ambassadors to foreign countries representing the United Arab Emirates, as well as representatives heading missions put in place abroad by the United Arab Emirates.

Forum Aims to Uphold the Goals and Foreign Policy Agendas Put Forward by the UAE Leadership

The latest 17th edition of the forum was conducted by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to ensure that there is an enhanced level of engagement and discussion between the leaders of the UAE as well as the ambassadors and other officials representing the United Arab Emirates in other countries.

Forum Aims to Uphold the Goals and Foreign Policy Agendas Put Forward by the UAE Leadership

The forum also aimed at exchanging views, discussing matters related to the recent development on various issues of regional as well as international importance, and also to ensure that the required efforts and coordination are in place to implement the aspirations put forward by the leadership of the UAE.

Talking at the inaugural speech of the forum, His Excellency Khalid Belhoul, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that “The foreign policies laid out by the UAE aims to champion and uphold the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace as a way to ensure that prosperity is achieved by all and also to enhance the level of diplomacy the UAE has with other nations.”

He also stated that “The United Arab Emirates always strives to conquer new heights in the fields of science and technology and aims to fight the existential challenge of climate change, which is indeed a top priority for all of us.”

The forum had over 25 sessions with ministers from the UAE cabinet, senior officials from various ministries, department directors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with representatives from different government agencies and institutions in the UAE.

There were also sessions conducted by His Excellency Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates on the topic of “Future Prospects and Opportunities for the Next 50 Years.”, during which he highlighted the pillars of foreign policy laid out by the UAE which includes aspects such as respect for international laws, not interfering in the internal affairs, support for dialogue and negotiations, as well as respect for the sovereignty of states.

Key topics that were discussed during the forum included foreign policies, innovation, the hosting of the COP28 event by the UAE, climate change, advanced science and technology, and industry.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that “The forum, which is conducted annually, put forward the keenness of the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. One of the main agendas of the forum is to let all the ambassadors and other representatives of the UAE on the global front know about the foreign policy of the UAE and also about the national agenda and strategic objectives of the country and how to achieve them.”

Talking about the form, Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE’s Minister of Education, said that “The forum acts as an important platform that helps to promote the approach by the United Arab Emirates in the field of education and also to unify the various goals and visions that is in line with the strategies laid out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Education.”

Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, the UAE Minister of State, said that “The forum helps diplomats from the UAE serving abroad to stay updated about the developments that happen within the UAE as well as understand the country’s latest approach to implement the strategies and objectives laid out by the country’s leadership.”

Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, said that “The embassies of the United Arab Emirates play an essential role in discovering new market opportunities suitable for investment for Emirati people. “

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, also met several ambassadors and representatives of the UAE participating in the forum.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation accompanied Sheikh Mohamed during the meeting which took place at the Qasr Al Bahr palace. The UAE President welcomed and greeted the diplomats representing the UAE in other countries and highlighted the essential role that each one of them plays in showcasing the values of the UAE abroad.

Sheikh Mohamed also praised the efforts put forward by the diplomats to serve their own country by strengthening relations with other countries and also building partnerships of strategic importance with many of them.
