Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Announces UAE Federal Cabinet Reshuffle

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai announced a restructuring of the UAE cabinet on Tuesday the 7th of February. The latest reshuffle was announced after consultations with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. As per the latest restructuring, new ministers as well as top-order officials have been inducted into the UAE cabinet.

New UAE Cabinet Changes Announced on February 2023

The latest cabinet reshuffle was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed via Twitter, wherein he said that “With the extended support of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and as per the consultations with him, we today announce a reshuffling that has been done within the UAE federal government, wherein Shamma Al Mazrui is now appointed as the Minister of Community Development in the United Arab Emirates.”

New UAE Cabinet Changes Announced on February 2023

He added “Another change to the UAE federal government is that Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi is now appointed as the Minister of Culture and Youth in the United Arab Emirates. Salem Al Qassimi represented the delegation from the United Arab Emirates to UNESCO. Also, we announce the appointment of Noura Al Kaabi and Hessa Buhumaid will now function their duties as the Ministers of State.”

Sheikh Mohammed also added “Another appointment is that Maryam Al Hammadi, who currently functions as the Secretary-General of the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates, will from now on function her duties as the Minister of State. In the past, Maryam Al Hammadi led the renowned efforts of the cabinet of the United Arab Emirates in implementing and following up on all the modern legislation put in place by the government to focus on the development of the country. We expect Maryam to keep showcasing the best of her efforts in the times to come with her new responsibilities.”

Another change announced by the UAE Vice President is the appointment of Omar bin Sultan Al Olama as the Director General at the Office of the UAE Prime Minister. Omar Al Olama will have new responsibilities alongside his current role as the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Also, Abdullah Nasser Lootah was appointed as the Chairman of the UAE Competitiveness Council and will function as the representative in charge of the knowledge exchange files of the government.

Concluding his announcement of the new changes to the UAE cabinet, Sheikh Mohammed also said “We express our sincere appreciation and thanks to Noura Al Kaabi and Hessa Bu Hamid for their sincere and wholehearted efforts and they will be assigned with new duties within the cabinet. We wish the newly appointed ministers success in their respective responsibilities. As always, we are very optimistic about the future of the United Arab Emirates and confident that the new changes will definitely help in accelerating the country in achieving the goals set forward by the UAE.”

About the UAE Cabinet

The Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates, also known as the Council of Ministers of the UAE, was formed in 1971, following the formation of the UAE. The UAE Cabinet consists of ministers appointed at the federal level, and the primary responsibilities of the ministers include ensuring coordination between all the seven emirates that makes up the UAE. The cabinet also makes decisions on foreign affairs, standardized laws, exclusive jurisdictions, etc.

Since its formation, the UAE cabinet is led by the Prime Minister of the UAE, a position usually held by the Dubai Ruler. The UAE Cabinet will report to the Federal Supreme Council (a.k.a Supreme Council of the Rulers) as well as the President of the United Arab Emirates, a position held by the Ruler of the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.

  • His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Prime Minister and Minister of Defence.
  • His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
  • Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
  • His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Court.
  • His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Cabinet Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
  • His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan – Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.
  • His Excellency Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi – Cabinet Member and Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
  • His Excellency Abdulrahman Bin Mohamed Al Owais – Cabinet Member and Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
