UAE, Germany Explore Partnerships To Build On Industrial Ties And Climate Efforts

As an effective strategy to work together to boost industrial and energy partnerships, a senior commission from the UAE met with representatives from around 30 German countries at one of the world’s largest industry trade affairs, Hannover Messe.

Co-hosted by the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the roundtable conference witnessed officials and executives discussing plans to create more conjoined initiatives to promote sustainable industrial development, efforts to reduce the carbon footprint, and measures on energy security.

Several delegates from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Kezad Group Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Adnoc, and Dubai Industrial City graced the roundtable.

Members of the UAE delegation took the opportunity to stress the Emirate’s efforts on accelerating the adaptation towards much greener and more sustainable industries at the panel discussion that was conducted at Hannover Messe.

German companies were introduced to UAE’s “unique value proposition and its vision for sustainable growth.”  by the executives of this delegation, underlining the benefits that foreign companies might acquire while collaborating with entities of the UAE as well as from the incentives that the government of UAE and industries have to offer.

Last September both countries signed an agreement with similar visions in mind, to join their efforts to strengthen energy security and efforts to decarbonize in addition to combating climate change.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Omar Al Suwaidi, remarked that UAE and Germany are making steadfast progress in various fields like hydrogen fuels, which will be quite an integral part of the industries in the future. He also said that the tie-ups between government agencies and national enterprises are working towards the motive of pioneering various innovations of the future such as green steel.

Mr. Al Suwaidi is optimistic about combining the strengths, talents, and resources of both nations which can be used to pave the pathway for greater energy security and much more sustainable industrial developments in the respective sectors.

He proudly claimed that both Germany and the United Arab Emirates are fixated on developing creative as well as effective solutions to the industry’s global challenges and that there exists a major appetite for joining efforts among the industrial communities of the respective nations.

 UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi released a statement that there was a 12 % spike in the yearly growth in the graph of volume of non-oil trade between the countries totaling $6.9 billion in the year 2021.

An Abu Dhabi-based energy company reported that a shipment of 137,000 cubic meters of the supercooled fuel was delivered to Elbehafen floating LNG terminal in Brunsbuttel, which was the first ever LNG cargo to be shipped to Germany from any Middle Eastern Nation.

The delivery of the first shipment of LNG from UAE to Germany happened last year between the Emirati Company Adnoc and RWE, a German-based power company. In addition to that Adnoc also sent its first-ever shipment of low-carbon ammonia.

Germany is the 13th largest global trading partner of the UAE, responsible for 2 percent of the UAE’s global trade. We can expect more creative and sustainable initiatives undertaken by the government of UAE with the collaboration of Germany.
