Having already conquered America, Singapore, London and Bahrain, Cut by Wolfgang Puck arrived in Dubai at The Address Downtown last year. It’s an elite location that’s well deserved – the terrace gives an almost uninterrupted view of the fountains, with the lower trunk of the Burj Khalifa dominating the view behind. So coveted is this spot, the waiter tells us, that the terrace is booked for New Year months in advance, despite the hefty price tag.
The brunch starts a little differently to most – a basket of bread and jam arrives along with a cocktail trolley. We’re not complaining, carbs are definitely our friend, and the bread is warm, homemade and delicious. It’s a three-course meal rather than an all-you-can-eat set up, but trust us, you won’t finish a thing. Starters are brought out sharing style, with salads and o’dourve sized bites. Our favourite part of the first course is a small portion of truffle ravioli which, given the strong flavours, is exactly the right amount.
You choose your own main course from a menu of prime dishes. Baked salmon, chicken and, as you would expect, a huge range of steaks. We opted for a sirloin cut with a side of truffle fries and veg – you can taste the quality of ingredients with every bite. This is definitely a brunch for real foodies.
For dessert we had a pan full of cookie dough with vanilla ice cream on top (don’t touch the pan to find out how hot it is… Speaking from experience). The sweet, nutty taste of the dessert was extremely good but very filling after gorging our way through so much food.
In our book, a mark of a good brunch is quality food and a glass that’s never empty – Cut by Wolfgang Puck scores high on both counts. Definitely one to add to the Dubai bucket list.
