Amazon Opens New Fulfillment Center In Dubai South As They Continue Their Investments In UAE

Amazon world’s largest online retailer has recently inaugurated a new fulfillment center in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), resulting in a 70% rise in the company’s storage capacity within the country. The new facility is situated in the Logistics District of Dubai South, which offers numerous advantages, such as streamlined services, rapid operations, and uninterrupted connectivity to Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). This strategic location is expected to further enhance Amazon’s operational efficiency in the region.

The location of the fulfillment center is essential for allowing Amazon to effectively meet the region’s growing demand for its products. With the new facility, Amazon will be able to manage its inventory more efficiently and provide timely deliveries to customers in the UAE and beyond. After the opening of the new fulfillment center, prominent Amazon executives, including Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Ronaldo Mouchawar, Director of Operations for Amazon MENA Prashant Saran, and Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Amazon MENA Zeina El Kaissi, led distinguished guests on a tour of the state-of-the-art facility.

During the tour, Amazon showcased the advanced technology and innovative systems it uses to effectively manage its operations and ensure excellent customer service.

Several prominent personalities attended the inauguration of Amazon’s latest fulfillment center in the UAE, including Khalifa Al Zaffin, the Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, Helal Saeed Al Marri, the Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, the Director General of Dubai Customs, Mohsen Ahmad, the CEO of the Logistics District – Dubai South, and Mohamed Shael Alsaadi, the CEO of the Logistics

The presence of these distinguished individuals at the event underscores its significance in the development of the region’s economy and its increasing global social position. These individuals represent various industries that contribute to the UAE’s economic growth, including logistics, tourism, customs, and consumer protection.

Following the inauguration of the new fulfillment centre in Dubai South’s Logistics District, dignitaries including Khalifa Al Zaffin, Helal Saeed Al Marri, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Mohsen Ahmad, and Mohamed Shael Alsaadi were given a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art facility by three high-ranking Amazon officials – Ronaldo Mouchawar, the Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Prashant Sara.

The new fulfillment center in the UAE represents a significant investment for Amazon, with a storage capacity of 2.1 million cubic feet. It will enable the company to meet the expected increase in customer demand during Ramadan and offer a broader range of products, including electronics and appliances, groceries, fashion, books, and more.

The new facility uses cutting-edge methods to run, such as the nearly three kilometers of transport machinery. It has five floors and a total area of more than 350,000 square feet. These cutting-edge technologies and systems will allow Amazon to manage its inventory and streamline its operations in order to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

The enlarged capacity of Amazon’s fulfillment center in Dubai is critical to the advancement of the UAE’s digital economy agenda. Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) can gain access to a larger customer base more effectively by leveraging Amazon’s fulfillment capabilities and logistics expertise.

Amazon’s “Fulfilled by Amazon” service is an excellent way for SMBs to broaden their reach. Amazon has pledged to host products from 100,000 businesses, including local SMBs, on its UAE website by 2026 as part of its commitment to support Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33. This initiative is expected to boost the growth of the UAE’s digital economy, allowing companies to prosper in the region.

The Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, Khalifa Al Zaffin, expressed his excitement about Amazon’s new facility and how it aligns with Dubai South’s mission of boosting the UAE’s economic growth through world-class logistics, supply chain, and warehousing infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Helal Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), highlighted Dubai’s clear economic growth roadmap for the next decade, as well as how Amazon’s ongoing expansion in the UAE supports the strategic objectives of the Economic Agenda 2033. Both officials praised Amazon’s role as a catalyst for innovation and technology in the region.

According to Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon MENA, the new Fulfillment Center will allow the company to offer a wider range of products and faster delivery to customers in the UAE. As per him, Fulfillment Centers contribute significantly to the growth of e-commerce sales, accelerate entrepreneurship by allowing sellers and start-ups to reach more customers, and build capacity. Besides that, he stated that Amazon is investing in developing the UAE’s talent capabilities, creating diverse career paths in an industry-leading workplace.
