UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Receives Victorious Sharjah Football Team

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi welcomed the members of the Al Sharjah Football Club team on Tuesday.

The football team has won the prestigious President’s Cup championship for the tenth time in the club’s history. Sheikh Mohammed praised all the players of the team, the administrative and technical staff and all the football fans in the UAE.

The meeting of the team members was held at the Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed wished the team more domestic and international success on their way. He also congratulated them for their amazing performance in the final match and the spirit of fierce competition that kept the crowd amused throughout the game. 

The delegation from the Sharjah Football Club expressed their pleasure for giving the opportunity to meet Sheikh Mohammed and also expressed their gratitude to the President for the efforts made by him to develop the sports industry and the athletes of the nation.

The support provided by the President has been an inspiration for people all around the nation to strive for more great athletic accomplishments. 

The meeting with the Sharjah Football Club members was witnessed by other leaders like the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several other Sheikhs. 

The Sharjah Football Club won the President’s Cup championship after defeating the Al Ain in a penalty shot out at 13-12 on April 28^th and the regulation ended last Friday at 1-1 at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. 

The Football team also got a warm welcome on Sunday from the Ruler of Sharjah and the Supreme Council Member, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. The meeting was held at the Al Badi’s palace on Sunday and the Sheikh rewarded the team an amount of AED 10 million.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi and the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

The Ruler of Sharjah expressed his gratitude and admiration to Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice President and Minister of the Presidential Court for the kind support of the game and for crowning the participants of the Football Club. 

The United Arab Emirates President’s Cup also known as the President Cup is a football competition that takes place in the UAE.

The winner of the tournament will be qualified for the AFC Champions League. The first season of the President Cup began in the year 1974-75 and was organized by the Football Association of the United Arab Emirates. The Sharjah Football Club has won the title ten times.
