Dubai Is One Of The Most Popular Cities In The World

According to Euromonitor International, Dubai was ranked first among the regional destinations and second in the global destinations in the 100 city destinations 2022 list. Paris has been chosen as the number one city in the world, followed by Dubai, Amsterdam, Rome, Madrid, London, Munich, and more.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed shared the news on Twitter and said that Dubai has been ranked second globally and has become first in the number of tourist visits with an impressive twelve million tourist trips in 2022. He also added that Dubai has no other competitor except itself.

The list is made after considering the economic, business, tourism, and infrastructure performances of each city. The post-pandemic relaxations have kick-started the tourism and other economic sectors in these destinations. As there are very less travel restrictions too, people have started traveling to different places to relax and unwind.

This tendency would create a positive outcome for most of the major travel destinations around the world and Dubai is a major destination when it comes to work and leisure. International tourism faced a huge upsurge this year with an increase of 112 percent. From the middle east and African regions, fourteen cities figured in the top 100 cities of the world with Dubai being the first regionally.

Dubai has figured in the top-tier cities list multiple times in the past too. In 2021, Dubai was ranked as the fifth-best city in the world and the second-best city for remote working. The report was published by Bloomberg and it also stated that Dubai had the highest foreign-born population among other cities in the world. Because of this quality of being a good host, Dubai has always attracted the attention of the international community.

The weather, standard of living, employment opportunities, business investments, startups, etc. are all some major advantages that Dubai offers to its citizens and expats. 

Apart from European cities, only Dubai and New York figured in the first ten top cities of the world. Paris has been ranked consecutively for the second time and this is mainly because of its stellar performances across tourism and other domains of economic performances. But Euromonitor also stated that even though there is a positive outlook in terms of social movement and tourism across the world, we are still en route to a complete Covid recovery.

For this purpose, every nation has to offer its full support and assistance in terms of covid management. Next year seems to be a mixed bag in terms of tourism and overall global economic stability. The increasing inflation rates, the Russian-Ukrainian war, recession risks, multiple virus threats, etc. are all active risks that can hinder tourist activity in these major cities.  

Asian countries put up a comparatively dimmer show in terms of tourist influx majorly because of the covid related restrictions. However, Singapore made a considerable improvement from its previous position and Euromonitor complimented Singapore for being a business-friendly destination with simple tax rules and a wide pool of talented employees.

2023 is predicted to be a good year for Asian countries as they will be making a comeback in the tourism sector. In November, Dubai had been labeled as the most-viewed travel destination in TikTok with 92 billion views. The main attractions in Dubai are the Burj Khalifa, and Atlantis.

National History Museum, Dubai Expo, global village, Dubai miracle garden, etc.  Along the lines of TikTok, it should be noted that most GenZ travelers preferred destinations like London, Barcelona, and Dubai coming in the first, second, and third positions. Earlier in July, Dubai was selected as the most popular city break destination in the world by Premier Inn, a luxury hotel chain.
