UAE Free Parking Announced In Dubai For New Year's Day

As part of the New Year’s day celebrations, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has said that public parking will be free on January 1, Sunday. From Monday, normal tariffs would be applied and multi-story parking would not come under the free parking on Sunday. Apart from this, the Dubai metro will also operate for special hours on Saturday and Sunday.

The red and green lines of the metro will be on duty starting from Saturday five in the morning to twelve midnight on Sunday. The trams also will operate from Saturday morning from 6 to 1 a.m. on Monday as part of the effort of the RTA to provide public transportation options as they travel to and from different new year programs.

It would also be beneficial for the public to reach back to their residence after the new year celebrations are over on both Saturday, Sunday, and Monday early morning.

The authorities have also announced that they will be making use of around ten thousand smart cameras to monitor road traffic and activities. The RTA Customer Happiness Centers will be closed on Sunday, 1 January, and will reopen on Monday, 2nd January.

The RTA has released information on the new schedules and road closures in and around the city to help the public move through the city in these two days. It has been planned in such a way that the traffic can be managed without many issues. 

The decision to introduce smart cameras has been made together with the Dubai Police so that a security blueprint could be created to maintain law and order in the coming two days in Dubai.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting assistant commandant for operations affairs at Dubai Police and Acting Chairman of the executive committee for securing international and local events said that several meetings were conducted with representatives of different official bodies and a unified security plan was put in place that would cover various aspects of security and public law & order.

This will cover the major tourist spots, and commercial events and will also help in maintaining a smooth traffic inflow and outflow from different locations during New Year’s Eve of 2023.

He also said that the Dubai administration is fully prepared to use all the resources necessary to ensure a smooth and positive experience for the visitors at multiple locations of New year celebrations.

The new year celebrations in Dubai will witness a huge influx of people from all over the world and Al Mazrouei noted that it is of paramount importance that there needs to be a coordinated effort from all the different sections of the administration to ensure smooth and hassle-free crowd management during the time of celebrations. 

The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be shut at four in the evening on Saturday. So the authorities have informed that anyone who has a reservation at the Boulevard or Dubai Mall on Saturday should make sure they come before four in the evening. Multiple roads will be closed on Saturday like the lower deck of the Financial Center Road will be closed by 4 p.m. Al Sukook street will close by 8 p.m.

The Al Asayel Road which leads to the Burj Khalifa district will be closed by 4 p.m. and it will only be opened for public buses and emergency services.

Al Mustaqbal street will also be gradually closed between 2nd Za’abeel road and Al Meydan road towards the start of the events around four in the evening. Dubai will be witnessing one of the biggest New Year celebrations that will last for two days and will be participated by people from all around the world.
