Phase II Of Hatta Development Projects Approved By Sheikh Mohammed

The 14 projects and tasks that make up Phase I of the Hatta Development Projects and Initiatives were recently evaluated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. Besides that, he approved Phase II of the Development, which includes 22 projects and initiatives that will begin this year.

During the occasion, 87 Hatta locals who graduated with Certified Professional Diplomas in Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Entrepreneurship were also praised by His Highness.

Sheikh Mohammed briefly explained on the ambitious Phase II of the Hatta Development Projects and Initiatives, which is set to begin this year, during his tour of Hatta Souq.

The primary goal of this phase is to transform Hatta Beach into an all-year tourist destination by providing a diverse range of recreational amenities, services, and activities along the waterfront.

One of the notable projects of this phase is the construction of Hatta Waterfalls near the Hatta Dam, which will undoubtedly attract a lot of visitors.

A 5.4-kilometer cable car will also be installed, providing tourists with a breathtaking view of Umm Al Nusour from the top. These projects are expected to boost Hatta’s attractiveness as a tourist destination and promote tourism in the region.

The 146,000-square-foot Souq has a built-up area of more than 43,000 square feet and includes a variety of facilities such as seven shops, six indoor and seven outdoor kiosks, 42 sales platforms, a spacious store, eight food carts, a children’s playground, outdoor seating, and green areas, prayer rooms for both men and women, and public amenities.

Hatta’s residents can showcase their handicrafts, agricultural yields, and business ventures at the Souq.

Phase I of the Hatta Development Projects and Initiatives, which includes an urban design guide specifically for Hatta’s unique mountainous landscape, has already been completed.

Hatta Souq and Hatta Heritage Village are also part of Phase I, and these initiatives aim to highlight the region’s rich culture, history, and customs, thereby raising the region’s cultural and historical profile.

During the first phase of development, an 11.5-kilometer track was built specifically for cyclists and mountain bikers, and multiple quick traffic solutions were implemented to improve road conditions and parking facilities at key tourist destinations.

Other projects completed in collaboration with private companies include public and shared mobility solutions, such as e-hailing and shared rental services. There were also bus shelters, mobility hubs, parking facilities, and a transportation hub built.

More than 13,000 indigenous trees were planted in Hatta during Phase I, including residential areas, cycling tracks, and roads. Local farmers were helped by a program that provided resources such as fertilizers, seeds, and seedlings, and a tourist farm was established to provide visitors with a one-of-a-kind experience.

Educational institutions, various service facilities, and a variety of events and programs to promote agricultural, cultural tourism, and sporting activities in the Hatta region were also implemented.

An SME Hub that supports entrepreneurship and youth projects is also part of the development. The facility aims to assist small and medium-sized business owners while also inspiring Hatta’s youth to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Residents and visitors have received integrated services to enhance their overall experience of these attractions. Moreover, the Hatta Heritage Village is expected to benefit 40 citizen families.

Several upcoming projects and initiatives are being set up to assist Hatta develop and promote tourism. To attract more investment opportunities, these include restoring Wadi Lim Lake and installing seasonal kiosks, food carts, facilities, walkways, and rest areas. A new model residential district is also being planned, with 100 national houses being built as part of the project.

Hiking trails will be built in select mountainous areas for recreational and sporting purposes. A Hatta service centre will also be built to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Furthermore, Hatta’s archaeological sites, such as the Hatta tombs from the Bronze and Iron Ages and the Falaj Al Shari’a in Hatta, will be included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. These initiatives seek to raise Hatta’s cultural and historical profile, attract more visitors, and boost regional economic growth.

The Department of Economy and Tourism collaborated with the Dubai Entrepreneurship Academy to organize a program to improve the skills and abilities of Hatta region youth and residents. The program was created to equip them with the skills needed to manage projects and capitalize on investment opportunities.

During his visit to Hatta Souq, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was greeted by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, who briefed him on the Souq’s design, which seamlessly blends modern and traditional elements with the region’s mountainous nature. To ensure harmony with its surroundings, the Souq was built with natural resources obtained from the Hatta mountains.
